Not all sunscreens are created equal. In fact, most do not block long UVA radiation. The term "broad spectrum," so often seen on sunscreens, actually means very little. The FDA is drafting more relevant labeling laws, but these will not be in effect for several years. Today, the labeled SPF number is a measure of protection against UVB and only some short UVA, but not long UVA. These long UVA rays are now known to cause photo-aging and are likely to be involved in the more aggressive skin cancers, such as melanoma.

Applied Therapeutics state-of-the-art sunscreen moisturizers are available in SPF 15, 30, and 45 formulations. They are recommended for daily use to provide maximum protection against the damaging effects of the sun. Incorporating Z-COTE® transparent zinc oxide and SUN CAPS® encapsulated sunscreen agents, these lotions block both the UVB and UVA, including long UVA rays. Last year, the American Academy of Dermatology made its recommendations to the FDA in regard to criteria for Broad Spectrum Labeling. Applied Therapeutics sunscreens already exceed the AAD's proposed criteria.

Additionally, Applied Therapeutics Daily Protection Sunscreen Moisturizers are enriched with essential moisturizing ingredients and vitamins to help reduce the visual signs of aging. They are an ideal product for those with sensitive skin or for post dermatological treatments because they do not contain any of the sunscreen chemicals most often associated with adverse reactions.

Applied Therapeutics moisturizers with sunscreen are superior because they are formulated to optimize the sunscreen's efficacy. In fact, Applied Therapeutics has been able to achieve high SPFs while using substantially less organic sunscreen than comparable products.
